Went to work at Sam's club in the Fall and still working there today. Rocco had Nasal surgery in October, it helped with his breathing some but not a perfect fix. But all in all he is healed and doing well. Some articles I have read online say nasal surgeries can take up to a full year for the full effects to be seen. So I guess time will tell. It was a rough and uncomfortable recovery for him. Trying now to cut back on some of his medications and switch to a more natural health approach. Dropped his statin cholesterol medicine for vitamin C. We have read just too many negative articles about statins and all the bad side effects and damage they do. His Chiropractor was happy to hear he gave up that drug. Now reducing diabetes medications and going to try Ceylon Cinnamon. Will keep an eye on his glucose levels as it can take some time for the Cinnamon to work. He is still taking Januvia though while we give this a try. Christmas went well, Kids were over for Christmas eve and we spent Christmas day home alone. Been a mild winter with nice temps, very few cold or chilly days. So that about catches things up. Pretty quiet since my last post.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-76869434118749187862011-09-08T08:30:00.000-07:002011-09-08T08:35:10.819-07:00September MorningWhat a nice morning it has been. The temperatures are nice enough (for now) that our air conditioners were turned off yesterday afternoon and the windows have been opened all night and all morning. The fresh air was much needed after a long hot summer with the house closed up tight with AC's running constantly. It smells so much fresher now. Rocco had an early morning visit to the hospital out patient center for routine blood work, then back home for a tasty breakfast of Home fries, Bacon, toast and eggs over easy. (and I had orange juice too) Now I am stuffed and ready for a nap before work this afternoon.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-17999798628916735052011-08-17T21:41:00.000-07:002011-08-17T21:45:47.507-07:00Farewell to Ray
Been quite busy at work up until this week. Summer is finally winding down as kids get back to school. I sure was ready for this time of year though as its been a real busy summer at Funland. Ray, one of our regular customers this summer, is leaving for home this Sunday. He has been visiting Funland almost every day meeting with friends in the evening to enjoy our 99 cent Natural Lights. He will be missed.

He was holding up his right front paw and yelping with even the slightest touch. He spends the night in our bedroom with the door closed so it seems like if he did something in the night to injure his leg, we would have heard something. So it was off to the vet. After an exam the Dr decided it was not broke and was either a muscle or tendon injury from God knows what. His treatment was a cortisone shot and cortisone pills to be started in 2 weeks after the shot wears off. He also said that the shot would help his skin since he is always chewing and scratching himself raw. He sent him home with antibiotics for his skin condition also. While there we also had all his shots done (Rabies, distemper, parvo, bordetella) and tested for heart worms (negative results) and we bought a 6 month supply of Heartguard. Grand total, $121.00. Walked around and saw all the sights and fishing boats. There were quite a few restaurants to choose from and we decided on AJ's. We ordered a HUGE steamer bucket to share and it was so much food we couldn't even finish it. It was awesome.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-71776360431230117492011-07-25T11:53:00.000-07:002011-07-26T00:24:53.706-07:00Monday(1:30 pm) Slept in this morning, until noon that is. I didn't get to bed last night until 4:30 A.M. so it was only 7 and a half hours sleep. Not like I was just being lazy. After rolling out of bed, had a couple more papers to gather together and fill out to turn into the Clerk's office at the court house for Rocco's divorce. We are doing it ourselves and it sure involves a lot of papers and leg work. It is nearing the end of the process so HOPEFULLY this was the last forms we needed to turn in. Then back home for lunch. Had some pre-made pulled pork BBQ sandwiches. Just heat and plop on a bun and its instant lunch. Tasty but the BBQ sauce was a bit sweet. As we were eating, Bo decided to get a drink of water and came into the living room drooling, so Corinne got a napkin to wipe his mouth. He didn't seem to mind at first but then he lashed out at her and bit her finger. I just don't know about this dog. He has bitten Rocco before too and even growled at me a couple nights ago when I picked him up to put him in the bathtub. He was fine in the bath and even when I picked him up to take him out. He was playing when I was drying him off, then got mad and attacked the towel. He never bit me but showed some attitude for sure, MMMMMMM? He is calm now playing with a stuffed doggie toy. He was tossed around a bit before coming here. Not sure if that caused the behavior issues or if the issues caused the tossing around. But for all the attitude issues, we still love him and he sure is cute. LOL.

(7:30 P.M.) Had a good afternoon out and about. Rocco had a Chiropractor appointment at 3 pm which did not take long at all. Still working on an issue with his hip but it is almost well thanks to his Chiropractor. Then off to Borders for their going out of business sale. In the paper they advertised 40 percent off but only their magazines was 40% off, almost all books and gifts was only 10% off. Not much of a sale at those kinds of discounts yet the store was full of people buying stuff. Heck if that's all it took to get business they should have just had a 10% off sale instead of closing their doors. I can't believe all the people BUYING for just 10 percent off. I bought a Muppets Yahtzee game while I was there. Not because of the sale price as it was 20.00 normally but only saved 2.00 on sale. I just thought it was cute and I like Yahtzee. I will check back closer to closing time when they really have some deals. After Borders walked over to the Pretzel Maker (we were at Pier Park) and had pretzels and a soda. Pier Park was very crowded with tourists so headed back to town and away from all the beach traffic. Quick stop at Goodwill where I bought a pair of jeans for me that had been cut off to capri length. Then off to Petsmart. Had to pick up some dewormer for Bo as he has all the symptoms of Hookworms. But that's an easy fix with the right medicine. Afterwards stopped by Best Buy to pick up a Playstation Memory card but they did not have the one we needed so I just found and bid on one on Ebay. (its an older obsolete one we need for an older game we have, Disney racing) Finished off our running around with a trip to Cold Stone Creamery for Ice Cream. Had Double dark chocolate Ice cream and Rocco Had a shake. YUMMY.

(2 A.M.) Well finished off the day with a late night homemade supper of Dr Pepper BBQ chicken, BBQ flavored rice and Broccoli with cheese. After Lucas and Corinne got in from work and ate then we played a game of Muppet Yahtzee and I WON. Now off to bed.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-82713581156713724722011-07-25T01:23:00.000-07:002011-07-25T01:36:18.462-07:00Another day of workJust another typical busy day at Funland. Got off work at midnight and headed to Walmart in Lynn Haven for some late night grocery shopping. The store is quite empty that time of night. Made it home with some delicious powdered donuts and cold milk for a late night snack. Now playing Disney Racing on Corinne's Playstation 2. Disney Racing is an old Playstation one game we use to have and play all the time. I just picked up this copy on Ebay and we are having fun playing and bring back memories.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-32079719184534982072011-07-16T00:02:00.000-07:002011-07-16T00:06:29.956-07:00Work
Work, Work, Work. Always nice to catch up on some much needed ZZZZZZ's. Then decided to head out to St George Island. We stopped in Apalachicola for a late lunch, Seafood of course. Then on to St George and the St. George Island State park. Took some great sand dune and sea oats pictures there. The water was awesome, all clear of June grass that far East (St George is roughly 100 miles from us) The Beach was alive with lots of ghost crabs and shore birds. We found whole sand dollars washed up on shore much to Rocco's delight as most sand dollars we find are broken before reaching shore. We gathered up the sand dollars and brought some home as a reminder of our great day. The weather was perfect, warm sea breezes blowing and lots of sun. Then headed back to Apalachicola and stopped off at Caroline's River Inn for a couple dozen raw oysters before heading home.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-41378674770836117692011-07-11T23:12:00.000-07:002011-07-11T23:16:18.056-07:00Bo
Forgot to mention in my last post that we had another new family member join us. He came to us around March and has fit right in. He is a much loved member of the family that we are delighted to share our happy home with.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-59022784680846106192011-07-11T22:43:00.000-07:002011-07-11T22:52:45.673-07:00Forever

Well its been FOREVER (or at least it seems like it) since I was on here posting anything new. Since my last post our "roommate" Adam moved out, my Nephew Lucas moved in and Rocco's youngest daughter Corinne moved in also. Both "kids" got jobs at Funland and are working hard for the summer. Since starting back to work in March, its been busy, busy, busy at work so not much time to blog. Yesterday was Rocco's 53rd Birthday and we celebrated with presents and a cute HAMBURGER shaped birthday cake. Today was a much needed day off that was spent mostly at home (went out for lunch, Chinese, and a Chiropractic appointment for Rocco) Enjoyed just being home, watching some TV and playing a late night game on the Wii.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-63459251960518040132011-02-13T10:32:00.000-08:002011-02-13T10:41:09.753-08:00Living Area

Finally got some Photos of the living Area which consists of our Living Room, Dining area and Entry way. I know everything look so empty but you have to remember we moved here from a cramped tiny Mobile home so I don't have much to fill up all the space. I guess I need to go shopping. Didn't want to bring in anything else until the carpets were cleaned, which we did yesterday. The carpets aren't perfect but MUCH MUCH better. They were so bad before cleaning. We are thinking about adding some area rugs to brighten and cozy things up. We have looked at several stores and Pier 1 imports has some we really like. I will upload new photos as we decorate and make our home cozy and comfy.
Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-15519146746499560582011-02-12T16:16:00.000-08:002011-02-12T16:20:05.846-08:00Carpet cleaningToday is carpet cleaning day. Just taking a break as we are only about half done. Rented a Rug Doctor machine and though the end results are not perfect (because these carpets were the dirtiest I have EVER seen) as you can see from the photos, WOW what a difference it does make. Its a lot of work and lots more to go but very happy with the fresh clean look.
Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com27tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-19453542304850928032011-02-11T13:12:00.000-08:002011-02-11T13:19:12.238-08:00Curtains Well what started out as a simple trip to the store to buy a single blind didn't quite end up that way. Our living room has 3 windows. Two blinds were in good shape, one was not. Store after store after store left us with no match in the right size to replace the bad blind. So our last store was Sears, but no blind. At that point I said the hell with the blind search. So the 10.00 vinyl blind turned into 120.00 curtains. (three of which all match, LOL) So as you can see in the pictures, This is what it looks like with curtains (the two behind the couch anyways) and the lovely look before. It has been an all day job and Rocco worked real hard. Through it all I sustained one injury, the couch was pushed over my big toe but after a little blood and some painful throbbing we were back on track and the job completed. All in all, I think it was worth the work and aggravation.
Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-3218168589239793352011-02-11T03:02:00.000-08:002011-02-11T03:10:44.039-08:00New Home

Well its been like forever since I added a post to my blog so here I go. Changed the name of my blog from seaside living to Florida Living as most of you know we bought a home in Panama City and moved off of the beach. Been busy since February 1st just getting all settled in. We installed a knob on the linen closet door in our master bathroom today. I said earlier on Facebook that only a new home owner could get excited about a closet door knob, Ha Ha. Rocco chose this knob as he liked the rustic iron look. Its been chilly and wet here lately and can hardly wait for better weather so we can start enjoying our new neighborhood. Was very gray Thursday but sun on the way for Friday.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-70406377028964803702010-10-07T16:33:00.000-07:002010-10-07T16:48:04.228-07:00Camping

We went camping this past Sunday and Monday evening at St Andrews State Park. Planned on spending a third night but canceled due to windy conditions. The wind started blowing as soon as we arrived and just never stopped and it was quite brisk. We were tent camping and Adam spent the night on Sunday. The guys fished almost the whole time as our campsite was located right on Grand Lagoon, but the fish just weren't biting. Adam caught a nice size Blue fish on Monday morning and I caught my first ever Red Fish about an hour later. He was 9 pounds, 27 inches long. Adam is holding MY Redfish in the photo. We had friends over for dinner on Monday evening at our campsite to share the fresh caught fish. Auggie got to go along and really enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine. The photo of me was taken inside the tent on Tuesday Morning as we awoke to another windy morning.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-24177221853068223082010-10-07T16:21:00.000-07:002010-10-07T16:30:51.639-07:0020 Gallon aquarium
We cleaned and redecorated our 20 gallon fish aquarium located in our living room today. It turned out really great and the colors have a nice Autumn hue to them making it very Seasonal. It has a nice warm glow to it with the Aquarium light that the photo does not show. I love both of our tanks and enjoy keeping tropical fish. Its a relaxing hobby that Rocco and I both have fun with. As an update on my last post about the Male Betta we added to our 40 gallon tank, he has settled in well and gets along with his tank mates. He no longer seems afraid and flaunts his pretty flowing fins.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-63364301151425308132010-09-29T17:38:00.000-07:002010-10-07T16:33:02.575-07:00Snorkel

This afternoon a couple of friends (Matt and Matthew) joined us and we walked down to the beach (we live just 2 blocks away) and snorkeled for a bit. Our Beach Walmart doesn't sell live pets or fish usually and they have no tanks set up. These poor fish were in small plastic containers in filthy water. So we decided to rescue a white with red fins Betta and add him to our 4o gallon tank. The other fish are curious about him and his long flowing fins but not overly so. But he seems TERRIFIED by his new tank mates. I am guessing he has spent most of his life so far all alone in a plastic cup. Hopefully he will adjust to other fish and tank activity around him as I would like to think I rescued him and offered him a better life. I added the best photo of him I could take along with a pic of the tank overall. Wish him luck, His name is Sparta.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-58034044466294734582010-09-28T00:38:00.000-07:002010-09-28T00:53:02.061-07:00Monday September 27
Well not much to share today. I slept in till a little after 11:00 am this morning. No real reason, just felt like sleeping in. Then a quick trip to Publix to pick up a few groceries and refill a prescription of Rocco's. Once back home I prepared a late lunch of Homemade Steak and Cheese Quesadillas , refried beans, Mexican rice and sweet corn pudding. The rest of my afternoon was spent watching TV and watching my new fish swimming about until I decided to take a 4:00 pm nap. (Like I needed to sleep after getting up so late) This evening Adam decided we should go fishing at the Hathaway Bridge, so I tagged along to watch the guys. Rocco caught a WHOPPER 37 inch, over 20 pound Redfish. Too large to keep as the legal size is between 17 and 27 inches but boy what a fight. Rocco loved every minute of it. The huge fish was released unharmed. Once we returned home and relaxed, a few games of Wii archery, basketball and bowling finished out our night.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-34816998603989373172010-09-26T13:42:00.000-07:002010-09-26T13:53:23.652-07:00Sunday September 26

Had visitors today. Kimberly and Cody came to visit with Rocco's grandson, Brayden and Cody's four year old Niece, Ann Angel. I cooked a tasty lunch of baked Seasoned Chicken with Vegetables. After lunch, we all went to the zoo even though a morning rain threatened to spoil our outdoor plans. I worked at Zoo World when it first opened many years ago and found it to be quite a different place than when I was there last. But it was a nice way to spend time with the kids. The "Monkey" picture features Rocco on the far right, his son-in-law Cody in the middle and Cody's little niece far left. After returning home, our visitors headed back to Chipley, about an hours drive away and Rocco found a comfy spot on the couch to watch Sunday afternoon football.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-86021387519554000172010-09-25T22:16:00.000-07:002010-09-25T22:29:45.140-07:00Saturday September 25thToday was a good day. We went to Port St. Joe with Adam (our roommate) for a music Festival. The festival was really not very organized with an hour in between each act for set up and sound checks so we lost interest early on and decided to head down to the docks for the guys to try a little fishing. It was so close, could still hear the music in the near distance. Rocco caught (and released) a small Black Tipped Shark and a Dogfish. Then it was nearing dinner time so we headed back to Panama City and stopped off at Golden Corral for dinner. After dinner we stopped at the Pet Supermarket and bought some fish for our 40 gallon tank that we bought at a yard sale Friday. It was a GREAT deal and came with everything, tank, lid, light, rock gravel, plants, heater, filter and a HUGE tree trunk with face decoration. We added some natural color rock to the black rocks and bought a HUGE vivid purple silk Amazon Butterfly plant. It looks awesome all set up next to our bed on the dresser, very relaxing to watch. And now it came to life with the addition of 3 Black Mollies, two male spotted swordtails, two Cory cats, one Pictus catfish, 2 mini flame Gouramis, and our largest Marble Angel fish moved over from our smaller 20 gallon tank (set up in the living room). We then played a couple rounds of Ping Pong and Basketball hoop throwing on the WII for fun and exercise then headed to the bedroom to enjoy our new fish and watch a little TV before retiring for the Evening.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-3898847483269073942010-07-15T15:34:00.000-07:002010-07-15T15:45:40.223-07:00Brayden comes to Visit
Fathers day was a good day for Rocco as he had visitors. His two daughters came to visit along with his 6 month old grandson, Brayden. Kimberly, Brayden's mommy and Rocco's oldest daughter, is pregnant once again so Rocco will be a Grandpa X 2. Things have been the same day to day around here. The summer Florida temperatures have been hot and balmy making outdoor activities lower down on our list of things to do. I much prefer Spring and Fall around here. Work is in full swing at the Arcade I cook at, as its right on "The Strip" in Panama City Beach and it is Tourist season. So far we have been spared from oil, a few tar balls that have washed up in various location along the beaches in Bay county were quickly cleaned up. With a couple more months left for family vacations , we are hoping for clear beaches for all visiting our unspoiled coast.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636691376108439335.post-32988783327396218792010-06-17T21:39:00.000-07:002010-06-17T21:48:24.413-07:00Still AliveYes we are still alive, just kinda put the blog on the back burner as our lives shifted directions once again. Will have to change the name of my blog now as we left the tent life behind. On June 3rd we moved from the tent (and St Andrews State Park) into a rented mobile home on the west end of Panama City Beach in an area known as Laguna Beach. I started back to work at Funland Arcade in Panama City Beach and we decided to make this area our permanent home and give up "wandering" about. As everyone knows, an oil rig explosion in the Gulf has left residents along the Gulf Coast in despair and some with their lively hoods at risk, not to mention all the damage to wildlife and nature. Well so far we are oil free in Panama City Beach but the threat looms ever so close with updates daily that leave us holding our breath to see if we "are next". I am unsure what the future holds for us if and when we are the next to suffer from this disaster, so for now we are living each day one day at a time. Keep us and everyone on the Gulf Coast in your prayers as we hope for the best.Velda Savagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11855193226083268899noreply@blogger.com0
